Ci3 CATI for Windows Now Offers Two-Level Passwords, Checking for Duplicate Phone Numbers, Mouseless Interviewing and More
More than a dozen user-suggested features and enhancements have been added to Ci3 CATI for Windows. Suggestions for these enhancements came from the 60+ Ci3 CATI for Windows users who attended our Ci3 CATI training sessions in February and also from users who attended the Ci3 CATI sessions at the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention's Behavioral Risk Factors Surveillance System (BRFSS) conference in May. Following are descriptions of some of these new features and enhancements.
Two-Level Passwords
You can now password protect a study at two levels (See figure below):
- You can specify both a Study Password that allows access to all Supervisor functions (study setup and report generation), and a separate Report Password that allows report generation only.
- You can specify a single Study Password that allows access to all Supervisor functions.
You specify both types of passwords if you want to permit certain staff members to set up studies and run reports while allowing other staff members to run reports only. Specify just the Study Password if you want everyone with access to a study to perform all functions. You can also choose not to password protect a study.
Checking Sample for Duplicate Telephone Numbers
Users sometimes create duplicate telephone numbers when creating a sample database, adding sample to it, or editing telephone numbers. You can now check the sample database for duplicate telephone numbers by using the Check Duplicate DB command (See figure below).
When Ci3 CATI for Windows finds a duplicate number, it indicates what the telephone number is and how many records have that number. Ci3 CATI for Windows modifies all but the first occurrence of each duplicate so that they are not released for dialing and you can use the software's Search feature to search for, view, and delete these extra records.
Mouseless Interviews
Interviewers can now use Ci3 CATI for Windows with a mouse only, with a keyboard only, or with both a mouse and keyboard. Many users find that telephone interviewing is faster and more productive without a mouse. Another advantage of this new feature is that interviewers trained on Ci3 CATI for DOS do not have to learn to use a mouse to interview with Ci3 CATI for Windows.
Interviewer Messages
Interviewers can now review messages recorded for any call attempt - not just the most recent message. Messages can be recorded by interviewers at the time of an attempt or by a supervisor prior to an attempt.
BRFSS Calling Rules and Final Disposition Codes
Ci3 CATI for Windows will now automatically enforce the calling rules for the CDC's BRFSS study. These calling rules ensure that each sample record that reaches its maximum number of attempts has been dialed at least three times during a weekday, three times during a weeknight, and three times during a weekend (See figure below).
If you are conducting a BRFSS study, Ci3 CATI for Windows will also code final disposition codes automatically for all attempted sample records according to the BRFSS rules for assigning final disposition codes.
All of the new features and enhancements described here have been provided to Ci3 CATI for Windows users at no charge. Additional features and enhancements suggested by users will be implemented and distributed in the future.
