Ci3 CATI for Windows
Sample Management: Simpler, Yet More Powerful
Ci3 CATI for Windows offers the same sample management capabilities as the DOS version, but does so in a simpler, more straightforward manner. In Ci3 CATI for Windows the sample manager runs from the interviewing stations, not from the supervisor station, completely freeing the supervisor station for setting up studies and monitoring interviewing progress.
At the beginning of a new call attempt, the interviewing station accesses the sample database to retrieve the next sample record; that record is then locked and its information is downloaded to the interviewing station. After the call attempt has been completed, the interviewing station accesses the sample database again to update and unlock the record and then identify the next sample record for dialing.
Now, with the sample management function streamlined:
- Interviewers don't have to wait to log on, get more sample, or store results
- Queued Callbacks are automatically transferred from the assigned interviewer to an available interviewer if the assigned interviewer is busy completing an interview
- Interviewers never run out of sample until there is no sample to be dialed
- Interviewers can quickly switch studies between call attempts
If an interviewer does not want to attempt the record selected by the sample manager, the interviewer can display a list of alternative records and select one for dialing. The sample manager then unlocks the original record and makes it available for selection by another station.
For inbound calling, interviewers can retrieve records directly from the sample database. Unlike Ci3 CATI for DOS, which requires interviewers to know the record number of the record being retrieved, Ci3 CATI for Windows lets interviewers retrieve records based on any unique record field (see figure below) - for example, telephone number, respondent name, or a customer ID.

What's more, interviewers now can redirect a sample record to another interviewer.
